We’ve added a new question type to help make your surveys more interactive and get you the actionable insights you need. You can now add a Reaction question to your surveys that will ask your users to provide a quick rating using Hotjar buddies, emojis, or stars.
One of the biggest barriers to taking action based on user feedback is simply gathering enough responses to be confident that you’re making the right changes. Users are often unwilling to spend the time it takes to type a text-based response, but it only takes a second to give a star rating. And once an initial star rating is provided, users are then more likely to provide more context in a follow-up response. Visual reactions are an excellent hook to draw attention to your surveys and engage your users in providing feedback.
Users of Hotjar Feedback will be familiar with the value of these reaction-based questions, but feedback widgets can only be displayed as a button on your site that users need to click and open before giving their reaction. With reaction-based questions in Surveys, you have lots more display options to make your survey more prominent:
While text-based answers are great for context, it’s trickier to use them to track trends in your site’s performance over time. With Reactions, each Hotjar, buddy, emoji, or star relates to a number, so answers are aggregated automatically and you can easily spot trends in user reactions and sentiment over time.
Did you know that you can click “Play” on a Hotjar survey response and watch a recording of the user’s experience before they left their feedback? By combining survey responses with recordings, you can get the full story behind a user’s rating whether it's good or bad.
Why not create a survey today, add a Reaction question, and see what you can learn about your users?
