TL;DR: You can now customize the Feedback widget label and see the most important information first in the Survey Responses tab with reordered columns. The whole Survey experience has also become more accessible with:
Hotjar users know how important it is to get in-moment feedback to learn about the unbiased opinion of their customers. Feedback and Surveys in Hotjar Ask are great tools to reach the right users at the right time to bring the voice of the customer to decision making. Yet, when you’re using them, you might have found yourself thinking:
“I wish I could personalize the “Feedback” label because not all my users are familiar with English words.”
“It would be great to see the answers first on the survey responses page.”
“The survey pop-up is not accessible, and the default button color option doesn’t meet the guidelines.”
If you nodded reading the above just now, these improvements are for you! Hotjar Ask users can now customize the text on their feedback button and see the essential information first in the survey responses table. And as a cherry on the top, we improved the accessibility of Surveys! 🎉
If your site is on the Ask Business plan or above, you can change the default “Feedback” text on the Feedback widget and create a button that would resonate more with your users. Is English not the primary language on your website? We used to automatically translate the "Feedback" label into other languages, but we all know how automatic translations can be... 🤔 so now you can choose the exact word or phrase you feel will encourage your users to give feedback.
Have you ever wondered whether you would collect better responses if your users saw a “Rate your experience” button rather than the default “Feedback” one? You can test that and many other ideas with the custom widget labels.
If you need some inspiration to figure out how to customize it, here are the top preferences of Hotjar users:
We analyzed the default order of columns in the Survey Responses tab and found that information like user ID may be less valuable than the actual survey responses. So we have changed the order of the columns to simplify your survey analysis process and help you find the information that matters to you a lot. You’ll now see the columns in the following order: Survey questions, page URL, date, device, country, browser, and user ID.
Don’t need to see a piece of information like User ID? Tailor your table easily by selecting the columns you’re interested in.
With only important bits of information on your table, analyzing responses will become a breeze.
We’ve got great accessibility ideas from you over the past couple of months. Bringing the voice of our users to product decisions, we released a bunch of accessibility improvements in Surveys to give you a more pleasant user experience:
1. The text color in Surveys now automatically changes when you update the background color.
2. You can now preview the button color by just hovering over the color. So picking a color has become much simpler.
3. We've made buttons, checkboxes, radio buttons, input fields, and links more accessible for keyboard users by adding focus states. If your users have accessibility needs that require them to navigate with a keyboard, they can now do so more easily.
4. Surveys got more modern and accessible color combinations with light and dark modes on all plans, including the free Basic plan.
We’re working on making surveys even faster to set up by moving the survey templates inside the platform. Haven’t seen our templates yet? Head over to the survey template directory to start using different templates and choose from 70+ question types.
