Finding and investigating bugs takes time. But Hotjar has new tools to make that way quicker. Watch recordings of sessions with errors to rapidly see what might be causing them. Spend less time figuring out whatâs going on, and more time improving your user experience đ
If youâre an admin, you can turn on console tracking in your site settings. Hotjar will then start tracking Javascript errors that occur on your website. You can view those errors in the console while watching recordings and find sessions with specific errors using the new errors filter.
Monitor errors and investigate them in the same place. Create a Recordings segment to track new Javascript errors on your most important flows. Share them in Slack or tons of other apps via Zapier to keep on top of them in real time. Then watch those recordings to see exactly when the errors happen, which user actions might be causing them, and how these errors impact your UX đ
Validate your bug fixes
Reproducing a bug can be tricky đ When you think youâve resolved one, you want to know for sure. Why not find out in recordings? Combine the errors filter with other segmentationâlike a userâs browser, device type, or the specific elements that they click on the pageâto understand if those errors still occur.
With the errors filter in Trends, you can monitor specific errors on particular pages over time đ Imagine you spot a new error occurring on your checkout page and wonder how many users are affected. In Trends, you could filter by errors containing the specific Javascript error text on the checkout page. Youâd then understand how big the problem might be, and whether you need to prioritize a fix.
Console tracking and the errors filter are now available on Observe Scale plans. Sites on a paid Observe Business plan can also use these features as part of their Scale features trial until March 13, 2023. Upgrade or check your recordings to see it in action.
