Have you ever received some feedback from a user on your site that was just a little mysterious? Responses like “this new layout sucks”, “I couldn’t find what I was looking for…”, or “oh, that’s cool!”, can sometimes leave you with more questions than answers. What exactly was it about the experience that the user liked or didn’t like? What were they trying to do? What did they do before/after they left their feedback?
Last year, as a first step to help you answer these questions, we added a “Play” button that allows you to jump from individual Incoming Feedback responses directly into the relevant recording and see how that user interacted with your site in the same session where they left their feedback. The GIF below shows how it works:
Hotjar users have been clicking through from Incoming Feedback to Recordings and finding enlightening answers to questions about their users’ feedback ever since. But you’ve also left some feedback for us: “why can’t I click through from the card or table view of responses?”, “why is it only available in Incoming Feedback and not in Surveys?”, “why are you all so good-looking, Hotjar team?”... OK, so we made that last one up, but the others are real.
We listened to your feedback and now we’ve added that all-important “Play” in lots more places to make life a little easier and get you to the insights you’re seeking a little faster. You’ll now be able to jump directly to the relevant session recording from:
That’s it. If you’re already collecting feedback on your site, jump in to see the associated recordings with a single click. Just bear in mind that all sessions may not be recorded if your traffic is more than the session allowance of your Hotjar plan.
If you’re not already collecting feedback, now’s the time to get started!
