Hotjar Surveys is designed to help you capture in-the-moment feedback by placing on-site surveys at crucial points in the user journey. Our customers love having the ability to ask questions at the right time and in the right place, but they often don’t know exactly what question to ask. Not all teams have access to expert researchers to make sure their surveys are designed in a way that will uncover the insights they need. That’s where survey templates come in.
Set an expert-built survey live on your site in seconds
Hotjar has provided a directory of survey templates on our website for some time now, but those templates, built by our own expert researchers, are now available to use inside the Hotjar app. This means you can simply select the “New Survey” button, choose the relevant template, and set it live on your site.
Make it your own
Of course, every team’s needs are different and there’s no “one size fits all” solution to user research. Some survey templates, like NPS, are based on industry-standard questions and can be used right out of the box with little or no customization, while others will provide you with a solid foundation from which to build. All of our templates are fully editable once chosen, so you can make any tweaks you want to ensure they fit your brand, product, and research needs.
Get the full picture
Even when you ask all the right questions, user responses can sometimes leave you scratching your head and wishing you could get a better understanding of the user’s point of view. You could always send an email and ask for an interview, but that’s a lot of extra time and effort for both parties when, in many cases, the extra context you need can be found in the user’s experience on your site before they answered your survey. With Hotjar Surveys, you can select “Play” next to the survey response, jump straight to a recording of the user’s session, and see what they saw before and after your survey popped up.
